Netflix has increased its subscription fees in Nigeria for the third time since 2024, with the latest hike effective in 2025. According to updates on Netflix’s website, the new prices are:
- Premium Plan: Now ₦8,500 per month, up 21.43% from ₦7,000.
- Standard Plan: Now ₦6,500 per month, up 18.18% from ₦5,500.
- Basic Plan: Now ₦4,000 per month, up 14.29% from ₦3,500.
- Mobile Plan: Now ₦2,500 per month, up 13.64% from ₦2,200.
This follows two previous increases in April and July 2024. Netflix attributes these adjustments to its global strategy to boost revenue and fund content expansion, citing improvements in service and local market conditions like inflation and currency devaluation. The hikes come amid Nigeria’s economic challenges, including rising inflation and a weakening naira, which may strain household budgets. Some subscribers have expressed frustration on platforms like X, with sentiments indicating potential cancellations due to the rising costs in a tough economy.
