0
Health is wealth  but many Nigerians are unknowingly harming themselves with everyday habits. From skipping breakfast to abusing drugs, these mistakes can lead to serious problems over time. Here's a list of 7 common health mistakes and how to fix them before it’s too late.

1. Skipping Breakfast Regularly

Many people rush out without eating in the morning. This slows down metabolism and affects energy levels.
Fix: Eat something light even bread and tea or fruits  before you leave the house.

2. Self-Medicating Without a Doctor

Taking antibiotics, painkillers, or malaria drugs without proper diagnosis is dangerous.
⚠️ Overuse of antibiotics leads to resistance and other complications.

3. Too Much Maggi, Salt & Processed Foods

High sodium = high blood pressure = stroke risk.
Fix: Cut back on seasoning cubes and processed foods. Try natural spices instead.

4. Not Sleeping Enough

Sleeping less than 6 hours a night weakens the immune system and affects the brain.
💤 Fix: Create a consistent sleep routine, and reduce late-night screen time.

5. Overconsumption of Soft Drinks & Alcohol

These increase sugar levels, weight gain, and liver problems.
Fix: Drink water more. Limit alcohol to weekends (or better still, cut it off).

6. Smoking & Inhaling Generator Fumes

Smoking isn’t just “oyinbo problem”  it kills here too. Generator fumes (carbon monoxide) are just as deadly.
Fix: Stay smoke-free. Use proper ventilation if you must use gen.

7. Using Harsh Skincare or Bleaching Products

Many creams damage the skin and cause long-term health issues.
⚠️ Fix: Always check the ingredients in creams. Avoid mercury and hydroquinone.

Your body is not replaceable. Taking small steps today can protect your future health.
